Early Life and Career
Alexander Gatcan, born in Chisinau, Moldova, began his footballing journey at the local club Unisport-Auto. After a successful season in the Moldovan National Division, he was invited for a trial at Spartak Moscow's reserve team in 2005.
Spartak Moscow
Gatcan impressed during his time with Spartak's youth squad, scoring 2 goals in 14 appearances. However, he was loaned out to Chelyabinsk-based Spartak in the Russian First Division for the 2005 season.
Rubin Kazan
In February 2006, Gatcan signed for Rubin Kazan. His time at the club was marked by a controversy surrounding his Russian passport. In 2006, allegations were raised that Gatcan had violated regulations by playing for Rubin with more than the permitted number of foreign players. However, these claims were dismissed after an investigation.
International Career
Gatcan's performances for Rubin earned him a call-up to the Moldovan national team. He made his debut in 2005 and represented his country in 61 matches over the following years. In October 2007, he suffered an injury during an international match that sidelined him for the remainder of that season.
Rostov
In 2008, Rubin Kazan sold Gatcan to Rostov. The transfer was initially agreed with Rostov, but ultimately fell through. He eventually joined Rostov in August 2008, where he played for the first half of the season.
Krylia Sovetov
Currently, Gatcan plays for Krylia Sovetov in the Russian Premier League. He has become a mainstay in the team's midfield, contributing to their recent successes.
