Early Life and Education
Oleksiy Ustenko, a Ukrainian politician and economist, is a native of Chernihiv. In 2014, he graduated from Kyiv National Economic University with a degree in international economics and management. He further pursued his education at City University of London, completing a program in international business economics between 2014-2015. Ustenko is also a postgraduate student at Kyiv National Economic University.
Business Career
Prior to entering politics, Ustenko worked in the private sector from 2016-2019. He held leadership positions and played a founding role in various agricultural enterprises. Ustenko's business endeavors centered around utilizing innovative technologies in agriculture, and he was instrumental in launching successful start-up projects.
Community Involvement
Ustenko is actively involved in the development of Chernihiv Oblast. He facilitated the resumption of repair work on the Bulahovska outpatient clinic in the Kozeletska territorial community, which serves over 4,000 residents, including children with mental disabilities. He has also advocated for the importance of COVID-19 vaccination through social media campaigns.
Political Career
2019 Parliamentary ElectionsIn 2019, Ustenko was elected as a member of the Servant of the People party to the Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada). He was placed 86th on the party list.
Verkhovna Rada
Within the Verkhovna Rada, Ustenko serves on the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy. He chairs the Subcommittee on Rent Payments, Environmental Taxes, and Taxation in the Agricultural Sector. Additionally, he holds positions as Deputy Member of the Permanent Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and Deputy Co-Chair of the Interparliamentary Relations Group with the United Kingdom.
International Relations
Ustenko has been actively involved in interparliamentary relations. He is a member of the groups with countries such as the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Sweden, Japan, Cyprus, and India.
Investigation and Oversight
Ustenko is a member of the Verkhovna Rada's Temporary Investigative Commission, which probes possible illegal actions by officials within the State Space Agency of Ukraine and its related enterprises, particularly concerning the implementation of the "Lybid" and "Cyclone-4" projects.
