Amado Guevara is a Honduran former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He is widely regarded as one of Honduras' greatest footballers.
Early Career
Guevara began his career with Olimpia and Motagua in Honduras. In 1995, he made the move to Spain's Real Valladolid, but after failing to establish himself, he returned to Motagua a year later.
Mexican Adventure
In 2000, Guevara moved to Mexico and played for Toros Neza and Zacatepec. Then, he enjoyed a successful spell in Costa Rica with Saprissa before returning to Motagua.
Major League Soccer Success
In 2003, Guevara joined Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls. He then moved to Chivas USA and Toronto FC, winning the MLS MVP and Golden Boot awards in 2004.
International Career
Guevara made his international debut for Honduras in 1994. With a record 133 appearances and 29 goals, he became the country's most-capped player and a mainstay of the national team. He was part of the Honduran squad that participated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Return to Motagua
After leaving Toronto, Guevara returned to Motagua in 2010. He played for the club until his retirement in 2013.
