Renato Olmi: Italy's World Cup Champion

Renato Olmi was an Italian footballer who played as a midfielder. His most notable achievement was winning the 1938 World Cup with Italy, although he did not play a single match during the tournament.

Early Career at Cremonese and Brescia

Olmi began his career at Serie B club Cremonese in 1933. Two seasons later, he moved to Brescia, where he made a significant impact. In 26 appearances, he scored 14 goals, showcasing his attacking prowess.

Success with Ambrosiana-Inter

In 1937, Olmi joined Ambrosiana-Inter (later known as Inter Milan). He made his debut on September 12, 1937, in a 3-3 draw against Lucchese. Over the next four seasons, Olmi became an integral part of the team, playing 119 matches and scoring one goal. Together, they won two Serie A titles and one Coppa Italia.

Brief Stint at Juventus

Olmi left Inter for Juventus in 1941. He debuted for the Turin giants on October 12, 1941, in a 5-0 victory over Pro Patria. However, his time at Juventus was short-lived, lasting only one season. He played 22 matches and scored one goal, his last appearance coming on April 12, 1942, against Modena (a 4-1 Juve win).

Return to Inter and Post-War Career

After a season in Turin, Olmi returned to Inter and played for one more season. Despite his previous success, he only featured 10 times, with his final game for the Nerazzurri being a 4-1 defeat to Venezia on April 25, 1942.

During and immediately after the war, Olmi played for Cremonese before ending his career at Crema in 1947.

International Career

In 1938, Olmi was included in Vittorio Pozzo's World Cup squad and was part of the Italian team that triumphed in France. However, he did not feature in any of the tournament's matches.

Olmi made his debut for the Azzurri on April 14, 1940, against Romania. In total, he earned three international caps.
