Early Life and Education
Ana Revenco was born in Chişinău, Moldova, on May 21, 1977. In 1994, she enrolled at the Moldova State University of Economics in Chişinău, graduating in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in international economic relations.
From 2002 to 2003, Revenco pursued an alternative professional training program at CReDO, an NGO focused on human rights and democratization. She earned a master's degree in non-profit management. In 2014, she participated in the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.
Professional Career
Revenco began her career in 1997 as a public relations assistant for the US Agency for International Development's (USAID) Land Project. This project aimed to reform Moldova's collective farms in the agricultural sector.
In 2001, Revenco founded the Moldovan branch of La Strada International, an organization dedicated to combating human trafficking. She served as its executive director from 2001 to 2012 and from 2015 to 2020. From 2009 to 2011, she was a member of La Strada Association's board and president.
From 2010 to 2012, Revenco was a member of the National Participation Council, an advisory body to the Prime Minister composed of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). From 2012 to 2015, she served as Director of the Anti-Human Trafficking Center at the Ministry of Internal Affairs' General Police Inspectorate.
In 2013, Revenco became responsible for implementing the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization with the European Union for the General Police Inspectorate. In 2019, she joined the Council of Europe's Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA).
Government Service
On January 21, 2021, Revenco was appointed as an advisor to President Maia Sandu on defense and national security. She concurrently served as Secretary of the Supreme Security Council under the President of Moldova.
In February 2021, Revenco was nominated as Minister of Internal Affairs in Prime Minister-designate Natalia Gavrilița's government. On August 3, she was again nominated for the post in Gavrilița's government. The Parliament of Moldova approved the government on August 6, 2021.
Awards and Recognition
In 2014, Revenco received the Medal of Civic Merit for her contributions to society.
