Biography of Anastasia Prikhodko

Anastasia Konstantinovna Prikhodko was born on April 21, 1987 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR. She is a Ukrainian pop singer who gained fame after winning the show "Fabrika Zvezd 7" on the First Channel, after which she signed a contract with producer Konstantin Meladze. In her teenage years, Anastasia attempted to join the pop group "VIA Gra," but was unsuccessful.

Early Life and Education

Anastasia Prikhodko completed her education at the Glière School in Kiev, specializing in "folk vocals," and later attended the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts. During this time, she participated in several local festivals and even secured third place at a festival in Bulgaria.

Rise to Fame

Anastasia Prikhodko gained widespread recognition after her victory on the show "Fabrika Zvezd 7," which led to her signing a contract with Konstantin Meladze. In 2009, she represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the Russian-Ukrainian song "Mamo." However, she faced disqualification during the Ukrainian selection process due to multiple rule violations. Eventually, she was offered the chance to participate in the Russian final selection process when one of the jury members suggested her song.

Eurovision and Success

Anastasia Prikhodko had a firm desire to perform her song in both Russian and Ukrainian, stating, "I believe that if you represent your country, you should sing in your native language." The Russian organizing committee agreed to her principled condition and she went on to win the majority of votes in the public phone and SMS voting, as well as receiving six votes from the jury compared to five. With this victory, she earned the right to represent Russia at Eurovision.
