Early Life and Education
Birth:Anatoliy Ivanovich Gribkov was born on March 23, 1919, in the village of Dukhovoe, Voronezh Oblast, Russia.
Family:Gribkov's parents, Ivan and Serafima, raised seven sons and three daughters. His mother was awarded the title of "Heroine Mother."
Education:Gribkov graduated from a rural youth school in 1936 and attended the Tambov Agricultural Mechanization College from 1937-1938.
Military Career
Pre-World War II:1938:Enlisted in the Stalin Kharkov Military Armored School as a lieutenant.
1939:Graduated with honors and joined the 127th Tank Brigade.
1941:Received his first combat award, the Order of the Red Star.World War II:
Defense of Moscow:Served as the commander of a 45mm anti-tank gun and received the Medal "For the Defense of Moscow."
Battle of Stalingrad:Played a pivotal role in holding back German advances and preventing enemy reinforcements from reaching the city.
Kursk Operation:As a staff officer, provided critical insights and helped plan the successful counteroffensive.
Post-World War II:
1945:Graduated from the Frunze Military Academy with honors.1960-1962:Chief of Operational Directorate, Kiev Military District.
1962:Appointed to Operational Directorate, General Staff.
