Anders Zorn was a Swedish painter, etcher, and sculptor. He was born on February 18, 1860, in the village of Mora. Zorn studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, where he initially intended to become a sculptor. However, throughout his life, he continued to practice sculpture alongside his main focus on painting and etching.

Education and Travels

Zorn received his artistic education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. In 1881-1885, he embarked on a journey through France, Spain, and England, with a visit to Constantinople. In 1888-1896, Zorn lived permanently in Paris while spending his summers in Sweden. From 1896 onwards, the artist settled permanently in his hometown.

Artistic Style and Achievements

Zorn initially gained recognition for his watercolors, but in the 1880s, he turned to oil painting. Regardless of the medium, Zorn excelled in depicting figures of people against a natural backdrop, often employing an impressionistic style.
