Andrej Plenković: Prime Minister of Croatia and European Parliament Member

Andrej Plenković is a Croatian politician who has served as Prime Minister of Croatia since 2016. He is also a member of the European Parliament and heads the parliamentary cooperation committee between Ukraine and the EU.

Early Life and Education

Plenković graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb.

Diplomatic Career

Since 1993, Plenković has held various positions within Croatia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2002, he became Deputy Head of Croatia's official representation to the EU. He has also served as Deputy Ambassador to France and Secretary of State for European Integration.

Political Career

In 2011, Plenković became a member of the Croatian Parliament (Sabor) as a representative of the Croatian Democratic Union, a conservative party affiliated with the European People's Party (EPP). Upon Croatia's accession to the EU in 2013, he was elected to the European Parliament.

Prime Minister of Croatia

Plenković was elected Prime Minister of Croatia on October 19, 2016. Since taking office, he has played a prominent role in Croatia's domestic and foreign policy.
