Andrew Bonar Law was a British politician and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He was a member of the Conservative Party.
Early Life and Education
Andrew Bonar Law was born in Rexton, New Brunswick, Canada, to a family of Presbyterian minister. At a young age, he was taken to Scotland, where he was raised by wealthy relatives.
Professional Career
For a long time, Bonar Law worked at a Scottish metallurgical company. In 1900, he was elected to the British Parliament. Five years later, in 1905, he was invited to join the government as the Minister of Colonies.
Political Rise
In 1916, Bonar Law had the opportunity to become the Prime Minister, but he chose to hold lower ministerial positions in David Lloyd George's cabinet. However, on October 23, 1922, he finally became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, due to a serious illness, throat cancer, he had to resign from his position on May 22, 1923.
Death
Andrew Bonar Law passed away on October 30, 1923, at the age of 65, from throat cancer.
