Childhood and Early Life
On October 14, 1919, a young boy named Andrey Stepanovich Alexandrov was born in the village of Karapsel in what is now the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia. He grew up in a rural setting, attending elementary school until 1931.
Pre-War Career
After completing school, Alexandrov worked on a collective farm and later became a tractor operator at the Ilanskaya Machine and Tractor Station in 1936.
Military Service
In September 1939, Alexandrov was drafted into the Red Army and served in the Far East. In November 1942, he was deployed to the front lines of the Great Patriotic War.
Heroism at the Battle of Hobbendorf
From January 28-29, 1945, Alexandrov, as commander of an artillery gun crew, led his men in a fierce battle near the town of Keuben (Hobbendorf) in Poland. Despite running out of artillery ammunition, Alexandrov and his crew continued fighting with small arms, grenades, and bayonets.
Recognition and Commendation
For his extraordinary bravery and leadership, Alexandrov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on April 10, 1945. He received the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
Post-War Life
After the war, Alexandrov was demobilized and moved to Nikolayevsk-on-Amur in the Khabarovsk region in 1950. He worked in various positions, including in the military, at a mountain industrial plant, and as a supply manager for the regional party committee.
Legacy and Death
Andrey Stepanovich Alexandrov passed away on July 27, 1978, leaving behind a legacy of courage and heroism. He is remembered as a true hero who fought valiantly for his country.
