Early Life and Education
Andrei Vasilievich Moshkarin was born into a working-class family in Ivanovo, Russia, on February 4, 1948. From a young age, he displayed a multifaceted personality, excelling in various fields. He graduated from music school, engaged in volleyball and swimming, and had a strong passion for mathematics.
In 1966, Moshkarin graduated from Ivanovo School No. 54 with a gold medal and enrolled in the Faculty of Heat Power Engineering at Ivanov Power Engineering Institute, specializing in "Thermal Power Plants." He graduated with honors in 1971.
Advanced Degrees and Academic Career
In December 1973, Moshkarin pursued his postgraduate studies at the Department of Thermal Power Plants at Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI). In 1976, he successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation on "Technical and Economic Justification of the Application Areas of Thermal Water Treatment Methods at Thermal Power Plants."
Teaching and Research at IEEI
From January 1977, Moshkarin worked as an assistant at the Department of Thermal Power Plants at IEEI. In 1979, he became an acting associate professor and in 1980, an associate professor. In 1983-84, he served as an associate professor at the Department of Heat and Power Engineering at IEEI.
International Experience and Contributions
In 1984, Moshkarin became a lecturer at Annaba University in Algeria, where he headed the university's first department of general thermal power engineering from 1985 to 1987. Under his leadership, the new specialty of "Thermal Power Engineering" was established in Algeria, and he authored and published 12 textbooks and methodological manuals in French on subjects such as heat and mass transfer, thermal power plants, and auxiliary equipment.
Return to IEEI and Leadership Roles
From September 1987, Moshkarin resumed his work as an associate professor at IEEI's Department of Thermal Power Plants. In the early 1990s, he actively worked on his doctoral dissertation. In 1995, he was instrumental in establishing the Dissertation Council on Energy at IEEI, where he served as its scientific secretary. Later, he played a significant role in transforming the council into a doctoral dissertation council.
Doctoral Degree and Professorship
In 1996, Moshkarin earned his Doctor of Technical Sciences degree from MPEI with his dissertation on "Methods for Analyzing Thermal Efficiency and Design Principles for Thermal Power Plants Objects." The following year, he was appointed head of the Department of Thermal Power Plants at IEEI and received the title of professor. He held this position until his passing.
Publications and Editorial Work
From 1997 to 2012, Moshkarin authored over 20 books on thermal power engineering. Under his editorship, the following scientific and practical publications were released: "Proceedings of IEEI," "Energy Yearbook," "State and Prospects for the Development of Central Russia's Energy Sector," and "Analysis of Directions for the Development of Thermal Power Engineering."
In 2001, at his initiative, the journal "Bulletin of IEEI" was launched and included in the list of recommended publications for doctoral dissertation materials. Moshkarin served on the editorial boards of "Energy Saving and Water Treatment" and "Gas Turbine Technologies." He actively participated in organizing international and Russian conferences. His total body of work includes approximately 600 publications.
Awards and Recognition
Moshkarin received numerous awards and honors, including "Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation," "Honored Worker of RAO "UES of Russia," "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of Russia," and "Inventor of the USSR." He was a member of the expert council of the Russian Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) on energy and energy engineering, deputy chairman of the Educational-Methodological Association (UMO) for the Thermal Power Plants specialty at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, head of a group of experts of the Regional Energy Commission at the Administration of the Ivanovo Region, an academician of the Academy of Industrial Ecology, and an academician of the Petrov Academy of Sciences and Arts.
