Education
In 1996, the politician graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics (Finance and Banking). A year later, he earned a law degree from the University of Warsaw.
Early Career and Political Involvement
From 1996 to 1997, he served as a researcher at the Vienna University of Business and Economics. Additionally, he completed an internship with the Warsaw Bar Association, obtaining his legal advisor qualification.
Between 1997 and 1999, he held the position of President of the Student Parliament of the Republic of Poland twice and was a member of the Presidium of the Main Council of Higher Education. He also worked as a representative of the Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics from 1995 to 1997.
The politician joined the Alliance of Democratic Left Forces (SLD) and served on its National Council and National Board. He actively participated in the party's 2000 presidential campaign, handling legal matters for Aleksander Kwaśniewski.
Government Positions
From 2003 to 2004, the politician held the post of Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, Labour, and Social Policy. Subsequently, he became Vice President of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency. From April to June 2004, he served as Undersecretary of State for European Affairs in the office of the Committee for European Integration.
European Parliament and Political Career
In June 2004, he was elected to the European Parliament. Until 2007, he served as Vice-Chair of the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee. He also led the Polish delegation in the Socialist Group in the European Parliament. He later became Vice-Chairman of SLD in 2016 and Vice-President of the Józef Oleksy Foundation.
Return to Polish Politics
In 2019, he was elected to the Sejm (Polish Parliament) from the Kielce constituency, representing the SLD. He served on various committees and delegations in the Sejm. In 2021, he was appointed Vice-President of the New Left party. He also held the position of Vice-Chairman of the Party of European Socialists.
Polish Foreign Service
In December 2023, the politician was appointed State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
