Anna Kovalenko

Anna Kovalenko was born in Ukraine and pursued her formal education at the Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema, and Television named after I.K. Karpenko-Kary (2008-2013), earning a Master's degree in Theater Studies. She continued her academic journey as a postgraduate student at the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine (2017), specializing in Public Administration. Additionally, Kovalenko completed a course in "Military Command and Humanitarian Law" at the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) in Switzerland.
Professional Career
Kovalenko began her professional career in 2008 as a journalist for the TRK "Radio Era" and the "STB" television channel. In 2009, she became the Deputy Director of Public Relations for the "Antiquar" Publishing House. She also served as the Executive Director of the Ukrainian Section of the "Association of European Journalists" in 2010.
Activism and Political Involvement
During the Euromaidan Revolution in 2013-2014, Kovalenko played an active role as a centurion in the 39th Women's Hundred of the Maidan Self-Defense. Following the revolution, she held advisory positions as advisor to the Minister of Defense and advisor to the Minister of Information Policy. She also coordinated the "Anti-Corruption Movement of Ukraine" from 2015 onward.
Kovalenko has been involved in various leadership and expert roles. She directed the "Strategic Leadership: System of Security and Defense of Ukraine" project at the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School (KMBS). She worked as an expert for the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars' George Kennan Institute in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Kovalenko has advised the Chairman of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, served as a consultant to the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security, and participated in the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine's "Women Leading Reforms" club.
In 2014, Kovalenko ran as a candidate for parliament from constituency № 206 (Chernihiv Oblast) as an independent candidate. In 2019, she joined the "Servant of the People" party and stood as a candidate in the parliamentary elections, occupying the 35th position on the party list. She resides in Bucha, Kyiv Oblast. Currently, Kovalenko serves as a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Veterans' Rights.
Recognition
Kovalenko has received recognition for her contributions. She was awarded a combat weapon, the "Fort-17" pistol, by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
