Anne Marie Avey, a resident of Los Angeles, is the proud owner of Colonel Meow, the cat with the longest hair in the world. This remarkable fact has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records. Colonel Meow, also known as Полковник Мяу in Russian, is not only the longest-haired cat on Earth but also an internet sensation.

To qualify for the Guinness World Records, three independent veterinarians had to measure ten hairs from Colonel Meow's fur (this cat indeed has a rather stern look!) to determine the average length of the fur strands. The data was then sent for certification. According to the official representatives of the company, Colonel Meow's average fur length is 9 inches, which is almost 23 centimeters - more than enough to secure a spot in the Guinness World Records.

Anne Marie Avey has stated that Colonel Meow has always been the best cat in the world for her, but being featured in the Guinness World Records is a whole new level of recognition. According to Anne Marie and Eric Rosario, the co-owner of Colonel Meow, grooming this cat was a serious challenge for both the animal and the owners. The fur is literally everywhere in their house, including on the owners themselves, even if they vacuum from morning till night.

So, to which breed does this record-breaking cat belong? Colonel Meow, who turned nine years old in 2019, is a mix of two of the fluffiest and longest-haired breeds among domestic cats - Persian and Himalayan.
