Early Life and Club Career
Anthony Annan, born July 21, 1986, in Accra, Ghana, is a professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder. Growing up, he was a talented young player who began his career with the Ghanaian club Sekondi Hasaacas.
Annan made a name for himself in Ghana when he joined Accra Hearts of Oak, one of the country's most successful teams. After a two-year stint there, he decided to embark on an international adventure and moved to Norway in 2006.
In Norway, Annan quickly established himself as a reliable and consistent midfielder, representing clubs such as Start, Stabæk, and Rosenborg. With Rosenborg, he won two Norwegian league titles (2008 and 2009), cementing his status as a key player.
In recognition of his exceptional performances, Annan was awarded the Kniksen Award as the Best Midfielder in the Norwegian league in 2010. His success in Norway also attracted attention from clubs across Europe.
National Team Career
Annan made his international debut for Ghana in 2007 and went on to represent his country in over 60 matches. He was a member of the Ghanaian squad that participated in four consecutive Africa Cup of Nations tournaments (2008, 2010, 2012, and 2013) and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Loan Spells and Club Transfers
In 2011, Annan signed with the German club Schalke 04 but was later loaned to the Dutch side Vitesse for the 2011-12 season. Russian club Spartak Moscow also expressed interest in signing him that year.
In 2012, Annan joined Spanish club Osasuna on a one-year loan. After his loan spell ended, he returned to Schalke 04 before eventually moving on to other clubs such as HJK Helsinki and Black Leopards.
