Early Life and Education

Antoni Porowski was born in Montreal, Quebec, to Polish immigrants. He grew up trilingual in Polish, English, and French. At age 12, Porowski's family relocated to Glade Springs, West Virginia, where he resided throughout his formative years. He eventually returned to Montreal to attend Marianopolis College.

After graduating from Concordia University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Porowski relocated to New York City to pursue acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre. He graduated in 2011 and drew upon his grandmother's culinary expertise to refine his cooking skills.

Acting Career

Upon moving to New York, Porowski auditioned for various acting roles. Initially struggling to secure work due to his Polish surname, he contemplated anglicizing it. He landed roles in films such as "Elliot Loves" (2012), "Daddy's Boy" (2016), "The Pretenders" (2018), and a guest appearance as a commanding officer in an episode of "The Blacklist" (2014).

In 2015, Porowski starred in "To My Father," a short documentary drama about the Vinnytsia massacre, as Adam Bandrowski. The film was featured at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner. Concurrently, Porowski worked in hospitality to supplement his income, initially as a server at a Polish family restaurant. He progressed through the industry, becoming a server and sommelier, eventually managing the sushi restaurant BondSt.

Queer Eye and Beyond

In December 2017, it was announced that Porowski had been cast as the food and wine expert in the Netflix revival of "Queer Eye," which premiered in February 2018. In April 2018, Porowski inked a deal with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to release his debut cookbook in spring 2019. He also announced plans to open The Village Den, a fast-casual restaurant in New York City's West Village.

On September 10, 2018, Porowski and his "Queer Eye" co-hosts received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Structured Reality Program. He made a cameo appearance in Taylor Swift's music video for "You Need to Calm Down" (2019) and was named People Magazine's Sexiest Reality Star in November 2019. In 2021, Porowski announced his involvement in the Equaversity Foundation, an organization fundraising for the support of the LGBTQ+ community in Poland.

Personal Life

During his early days in New York, Porowski lived in the same neighborhood as Ted Allen, the original food and wine expert on "Queer Eye." They became friends, and Porowski worked for Allen and his husband, designer Barry Rice, as their assistant.

Porowski identifies his sexuality as "a little more fluid across the spectrum" and prefers not to label himself. He dated graphic artist Joey Krietemeyer for over seven years before announcing their split in 2018. In 2019, Porowski and his "Queer Eye" co-star Jonathan Van Ness launched a joint Instagram account, posting seemingly romantic photos. They later clarified that it was a joke. Since 2019, Porowski has been in a relationship with advertising executive Kevin Harrington. They became engaged in 2022.
