Biography of Armen Khachatryan
Armen Tsolakovich Khachatryan (born on March 25, 1952, in Yerevan) is an Armenian statesman and economist. He graduated from the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization at the Armenian Agricultural Institute in 1975. He then pursued his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture, while also working as a junior research associate from 1975 to 1977. Khachatryan holds a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree and is a professor. He has authored over 30 scientific papers, including 2 monographs and 2 textbooks.
Early Career and Government Positions
From 1980 to 1982, Khachatryan worked as a junior research associate at the scientific-production association "Armagromechanization." He then held various responsible positions within the Armenian government apparatus from 1982 to 1992. In 1992, he became the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Armenia and served in that role until 1993. From 1993 to 1994, Khachatryan was the Minister and Head of the Government's Office in Armenia.
Academic and Professional Achievements
From 1994 to 1998, Khachatryan served as the Rector of the Armenian Agricultural Academy. He then returned to the position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture from 1998 to 2001. Khachatryan is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Education, an Academician of the International Academy of Viticulture and Winemaking, and an Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RAEN). He is also the Vice-President of the Problem Council of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and a member of the Presidium of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Armenia. Additionally, he has served as an expert for various international programs.
