Early Life and Education

Arnold Koller was born into a prominent Swiss family and pursued a distinguished academic career. He completed his undergraduate studies in economics at the University of St. Gallen in 1957 and went on to study law at the University of Fribourg. By 1966, he had earned both a law degree and a doctorate in law. To further his legal acumen, he ventured to the United States and attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1971 to 1972.

Koller's political ambitions blossomed in 1971, when he was elected as a member of the National Council of Switzerland. As a representative of the Christian Democratic People's Party, he held this position until 1986.
