Artak Kamamyan: An Eminent Agro-Economist and Statesman
Education and Early CareerArtak Kamamyan (born 1965) is an esteemed economist-agriculturalist and statesman. He holds a Doctorate in Economics and a professorship. In 1990, he graduated from the Voronezh State Agricultural Institute named after K. D. Glinka (now Voronezh State Agrarian University named after Emperor Peter I) with a specialization in "Economist-Organizer of Agricultural Production."
Academic Appointments
From 1991 to 2011, Dr. Kamamyan worked at the Voronezh State Agrarian University named after K. D. Glinka, where he held various academic positions, including Assistant, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, Professor, and Head of Department. He also served as Acting Rector.
International Research and Teaching
Dr. Kamamyan has extensive international experience. He was a Research Fellow at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom from 1995 to 1996. He was also a Visiting Professor of Economics at the University of Colorado, Louisiana State University, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1998 to 2006.
Leadership in Agricultural Sector
From 2002 to 2014, Dr. Kamamyan served as a Strategic and Risk Consultant for major agricultural holdings in the Central Chernozem Region of the Russian Federation. Subsequently, from 2011 to 2017, he was a Professor at the Faculty of Economics of Yelets State University named after I. A. Bunin.
Government Service in Armenia
Dr. Kamamyan held prominent governmental positions in Armenia. He served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture from 2018 to 2019 and Minister of Economy from 2019 to 2020.
Role at the Eurasian Economic Commission
Since February 2020, Dr. Kamamyan has been serving as the Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex at the Eurasian Economic Commission, which is the supreme governing body of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Scientific Contributions
Dr. Kamamyan is a prolific author with over 170 scientific, educational, and methodological works published in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests focus on risk management, resource optimization, food security, and taxation. He has supervised numerous candidates and doctoral students.
