On July 24, 1975, 36-year-old Barbara Colby and actor James Kiernan were shot and killed as they approached their car. Colby died at the scene while Kiernan, although initially alive, later succumbed to his injuries. Despite Kiernan's account of the events, the identities of the two shooters remain unknown.

The murder of Barbara Colby and James Kiernan remains unsolved to this day.
A Haunting Legacy
Coincidentally, Barbara Colby's former residence later became the home of John Lennon, who was assassinated nearby in 1980.
