Tommy Sandlin

Early Life and Hockey Career

Tommy Sandlin emerged as a prominent figure in Swedish hockey in the 1980s. During this period, he played a pivotal role for the Swedish national team, notably at World Championships and Canada Cups.

International Success

Sandlin's international career was marked by remarkable achievements. In 1984, he claimed a silver medal at the Canada Cup. His contributions later culminated in World Championship titles in 1987 and 1991.

NHL Experience

In addition to his international feats, Sandlin also played for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League (NHL). However, it was with the Austrian club Feldkirch that he achieved the pinnacle of club success, winning the European League and capturing five Austrian championships.

Coaching Career

Sandlin embarked on his coaching journey in 1998. In February 2005, he assumed the role of head coach of the Swedish national team.

Olympic and World Championship Glory

Under Sandlin's guidance, Sweden secured the gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and the World Championship title in the same year.

Later Coaching Stints

Sandlin stepped down from the Swedish national team in 2010. Subsequently, he served as head coach of Atlant from May to November 2011.
