Biography of Benny Bartlett
Early Life and CareerBenny Bartlett was born in 1924 in Independence, Kansas, USA. He grew up as a musically talented child, playing the piano and trumpet. At the age of four, he was already a member of a music and dance group. Bartlett began his career in the film industry as a child actor, appearing in the comedy film "Millions in the Air" in 1935, where he played the piano. The following year, he appeared in four films, the most notable of which was King Vidor's Western "The Texas Rangers". By this time, Paramount had signed a contract with the young star, and a bright future awaited him on the big screen.
Collaborations with Famous Actors
During this period, Bartlett had the opportunity to work with many movie stars. In 1937, he acted alongside Ann Sothern and Jack Haley in Otto Preminger's comedy "Danger-Love at Work". That same year, the young actor met John Howard and John Barrymore while working on the detective film "Bulldog Drummond's Revenge" directed by Louis King. In 1938, Bartlett joined the cast of Irving Cummings' musical comedy "Just Around the Corner", starring Shirley Temple, Joan Davis, and Charles Farrell. From 1935 to 1942, Benny Bartlett appeared in a total of 32 films.
Career Transition and World War II
Later, Bartlett managed to successfully transition from child roles to adult roles, which is not always the case for child actors. During World War II, he served in the army before resuming his acting career. However, he did not receive any major roles. In the early 1950s, he appeared in the popular comedy project "Bowery Boys", playing his character Butch in numerous episodes such as "Master Minds", "Crazy Over Horses", "Feudin' Fools", "Jalopy", "Clipped Wings", and others. He appeared as Butch in more than 20 episodes. Unfortunately, his career declined after that.
Limited Success and Retirement
In 1954, Bartlett achieved some fame by being cast in Alfred Hitchcock's thriller "Rear Window", which became a classic in the film industry. However, this did not revitalize his acting career. In 1955, he made his final appearance on screen as Butch in the film "Dig That Uranium", and in 1956, he had a small role in an episode of the series "Combat Sergeant". After that, Bartlett decided to retire from the film industry. He faded from public view and lived a quiet life. Benny Bartlett lived to the age of 75 and passed away on December 26, 1999 in Redding, California, USA.
