Biography of Billy Blanks

Billy Blanks is an American actor and martial arts champion. He is a world-class trainer and holds a seventh-degree black belt in Taekwondo. He is also a seven-time world karate champion and has black belts in five different martial arts. Blanks was the captain of the US national karate team and was the first recipient of the Amateur Athletic Union Champion title in 1975. He was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 1982.

Early Life and Martial Arts Career

Born as the fourth child in a family of fifteen in Erie, Billy Blanks overcame dyslexia, childhood hip anomaly, and clumsiness to become the undisputed fitness guru of the 90s. He began studying martial arts at the age of 14 and since 1975, he has won numerous local, state, and national championships. Blanks has also won the Amateur Athletic Union Championships five times. With a seventh-degree black belt in Taekwondo, he also holds black belts in five other martial arts disciplines. In the 80s, he was the captain of the US Olympic karate team, which won 36 gold medals in international competitions. He has been in the Black Belt Hall of Fame since 1982.
