Biography of Bo Yibo

Bo Yibo was a Chinese state official and representative of the older generation of Chinese politicians. He was a member of the "Eight Immortals," a group composed of the most respected veterans of the Chinese revolution. The group included former leaders Deng Xiaoping, Yang Shankun, Li Xiannian, economist Chen Yun, General Sun Zhengcai, as well as high-ranking party officials Peng Zhen and Wang Zhen.

Early Life and Political Career

Bo Yibo joined the Communist Party of China at the age of 17 and actively participated in the 1949 revolution. Afterward, he held positions as Vice Premier and Minister of Finance. However, during the Cultural Revolution in China, Bo Yibo was condemned as a political prisoner and sentenced to imprisonment.

Rehabilitation and Return to Power

Bo Yibo was rehabilitated in 1978 and returned to power as Vice Premier. He actively supported Deng Xiaoping's reforms, which led to the rapid growth of China's economy. Bo Yibo remained a prominent figure in the government and was known for his dedication to economic development.

Legacy and Succession

Bo Yibo outlived many of his colleagues, who had passed away in the previous century. His son, Bo Xilai, currently holds the position of Minister of Commerce in China.
