His upbringing spanned California, Texas, West Virginia, and New Jersey. Meyer attended school alongside Drew Barrymore, who reportedly shared his first kiss with him.

Inspired by Barrymore, Meyer secured a contract with her agent. As a child, he appeared in commercials and on the game show "Child's Play." His acting debut came in 1991's "Freddy's Dead: Final Nightmare," where his memorable death scene in a computer game left an enduring impression. His breakout role, however, was as a skateboarding drug addict in the 1995 teen comedy "Clueless."

Meyer subsequently landed roles in films such as "The Craft," "Escape From L.A," "Prefontaine," and "Dancer, Texas Pop. 81." In the acclaimed 1998 film "54," he played a busboy alongside Salma Hayek and Ryan Phillippe. He continued to appear in supporting roles in "Go" and "The Insider."
Leading Man Success
By 2000, Meyer had matured into leading man status with his starring role in the Dreamworks hit "Road Trip," where he portrayed a college student embarking on a cross-country adventure. He solidified his position with standout performances in "Rat Race" alongside Amy Smart, "Kate & Leopold" as the brother of the protagonist, and the "Garfield" films as the titular cat's owner, John Arbuckle.
