Martine Aubry
Early Life and EducationMartine Aubry was born on February 24, 1947, in Paris, France. She earned a degree in literature from the Institute of Political Studies in 1968.
Career in Public Service
Aubry embarked on a career in public service in 1971 as a teacher. After several years as a journalist, she became press secretary to Pierre Mauroy, then Mayor of Lille, from 1977 to 1981. From 1981 to 1984, she served as press attaché to Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy.
Political Career
Aubry held various positions in local government and communications before entering the National Assembly of France in 1997. She served until 2002 and was the Director of Communications for the Jean-Jaurès Foundation from 2003 to 2004.
In 2004, Aubry was elected to the European Parliament and served until 2010. She held several committee roles, including the Chair of the Committee on Regional Development and membership in the Delegation for Relations with Japan.
Affiliations
Aubry has been a member of the Socialist Party, part of the Party of European Socialists, throughout her career. She is currently a member of the Committee on Budgets.
