The Brothers Grimm: German Linguists and Researchers of German Folklore

The Brothers Grimm, Jakob and Wilhelm, are well-known German writers who gained popularity primarily through their fairy tales. Their best-known books are known all over the world, and generations of children have grown up with tales such as "The Bremen Town Musicians," "Little Red Riding Hood," and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Jakob, the elder storyteller, was born on January 4, 1785, while Wilhelm, the younger brother, came into the world on February 24, 1786. The boys were talented and had a strong bond. In their later years, they initially planned to follow in their father's footsteps and become lawyers but eventually realized that linguistics and the study of German folklore interested them much more. As a result, in 1812, they published their first collection, now known as "Grimm's Fairy Tales." Some of their best-known books include "Rapunzel," "Mother Hulda," "Hansel and Gretel," and more.
