Salahuddin Shah: The New King of Malaysia

Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, formerly the Sultan of Selangor, has been appointed as the new king of Malaysia. He was officially sworn in at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur, where he was greeted by members of the government, who recommended him for the ceremonial role he will fulfill for a five-year term.

From School Inspector to Sultan

Before inheriting the title of Sultan in 1960 following his father's death, Salahuddin was a humble school inspector. His journey to becoming the king of Malaysia is a remarkable one, starting from a modest background and working his way up.

A Strong Bond with his Wife

Nine years ago, Salahuddin married a young student from a financial college, who later became the Sultanah. Their union reflects a strong bond and partnership that has grown over the years.

A Guardian of Tradition

Like in England, which granted Malaysia its independence, the monarch in Malaysia reigns but does not rule. Salahuddin's main role as king is to be the guardian of the national traditions of the indigenous people, particularly the Malays.
