Early Life and Youth CareerCarlo Valeri, born to Italian parents in Australia, began his football journey with Canberra-based club Tuggeranong United. He later joined the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian Capital Football Academy. In 2002, Valeri crossed continents, joining Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan's youth academy.
Professional Career Abroad
In 2004, Valeri embarked on a loan spell with SPAL, making his professional debut. A year later, he moved permanently to Grosseto in the Italian Serie C1. On May 13, 2007, his pivotal goal against Padova clinched Grosseto's promotion to Serie B. Inter later sold the remaining half of his rights to Grosseto in June 2007. In total, Valeri featured in 133 matches for Grosseto, scoring seven goals.
Loan to Sassuolo and Transfer
In January 2010, Valeri was loaned to Serie B club Sassuolo. The following June, Sassuolo exercised their option to acquire his contract permanently.
International Career
Valeri represented Australia at various youth levels, including the U-17 World Cup in 2001 and the Olympics in 2004. He made his senior international debut in a friendly against China in 2007. Valeri was part of Australia's squad for the 2010 World Cup, appearing in all three group stage matches.
