Caroline Nokes: A Political Journey
Caroline Nokes is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Romsey and Southampton North since 2010.
Early Life and Education
Born the daughter of former British MEP Roy Perry, Nokes worked in his Brussels office alongside her sister Elizabeth. She studied politics at the University of Sussex from 1991 to 1994.
Political Career
Nokes began her political career in 1999 when she was elected to Test Valley Borough Council. She unsuccessfully contested two parliamentary elections before securing a seat in the House of Commons in 2010.
In 2018, Nokes was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Immigration in the second cabinet of Theresa May.
Personal Life
Nokes married landscape designer Mark Noakes in 1995. They had a daughter, Tabitha. In 2012, their marriage ended after Nokes was accused of infidelity in the press.
