Catherine Osson: A Political Journey
Early Life and EducationCatherine Osson was born on February 7, 1974, in Croix, France. She completed her secondary education at Lycée Émile Zola in Wattrelos. She then pursued her higher education at the University of Lille I, where she earned a bachelor's degree in geography. In 1997, she obtained a teaching certificate and began her career as a teacher in Wattrelos.
Political Beginnings
Osson's political journey began in 2008 when she was elected to the municipal council of Wattrelos on the Socialist Party list. She served as Deputy Mayor from 2008 onwards. In 2015, she was elected to the Departmental Council of Nord, representing the canton of Roubaix-2.
Controversy and Electoral Victory
Osson's nomination as a candidate for the En Marche! movement in the 2017 National Assembly elections in the 8th constituency of Nord sparked significant controversy. Despite the criticism, she emerged victorious in the election, receiving 62.95% of the votes in the second round.
