Early Career
Cho Min-ho began his hockey career with Kunghee High School in 2003. He made his debut with the South Korean under-20 team at the World Junior Championships the same year, and also represented his country at the tournament in 2004. From 2004 to 2008, he played for the Korea University team in the South Korean collegiate hockey league.
National Team and AHLL Debut
In 2008, Cho joined the South Korean national team and made his debut at the World Championships (Division I). He played in five games, recording three goals and one assist. Later that year, he signed with the Anyang Halla of the Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH).
Cho made his ALIH debut in the 2009-2010 season, scoring 14 goals and 30 assists during the regular season. He added another three goals and four assists in the playoffs, helping Anyang Halla win the ALIH championship. He also played in five games for South Korea at the World Championships, scoring one goal and assisting on another.
AHLL Success and Military Service
The following season, Cho helped Anyang Halla defend their ALIH title. He played 36 games in the regular season and four in the playoffs, totaling 48 points. On the international stage, he played four games for South Korea, assisting on one goal.
From 2013 to 2015, Cho served his mandatory military service with the Seoul-based team Daemyung Sangmu. In 2013-2014, he recorded 56 points in 40 regular season games, and scored one goal in three playoff appearances. As captain in 2014-2015, he had 13 goals and 44 assists in 38 regular season games, but the team missed the playoffs. Cho played in five games at the World Championships in 2014 and 2015, tallying two and five points respectively.
Return to Anyang Halla
In 2015, Cho returned to Anyang Halla. In the 2015-2016 season, he scored 12 goals and 48 assists in 48 regular season games, and added four goals and two assists in eight playoff appearances. Anyang Halla won the ALIH championship once again, making Cho a three-time league champion. He also played in five games at the 2016 World Championships (Division I), recording three assists.
