Early Life and Education

Colin Lewes Hanks was born on November 24, 1977, in Sacramento, California. The eldest son of Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks and producer Samantha Lewes, Colin changed his surname to Hanks when his parents married in 1978. He attended Sacramento Country Day School, Loyola Marymount University, and Chapman University.

Acting Career

Despite his father's influence, Colin Hanks pursued his acting career independently. While studying theater at Loyola Marymount, he gained practical experience through numerous amateur productions. His breakthrough role came in the teen comedy "Orange County" (2002) alongside Jack Black and John Lithgow.

On television, Hanks is known for his roles as Alex Whitman in "Roswell" (1999-2002), Connor Brody in "The O.C." (2006-2007), and Captain Miller in "Band of Brothers" (2001). He also had supporting roles in the 2005 remake of "King Kong" and the 2006 comedy "Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny."

Theater and Recent Work

Colin Hanks made his Broadway debut in 2015 in the play "33 Variations" alongside Jane Fonda. Currently, he stars as Father Gill, a young Catholic priest, in the AMC series "Mad Men" (2010-present).

Personal Life

Hanks has been in relationships with Rachel Leigh Cook and Busy Philipps. He is currently engaged to New York publicist Samantha Bryant.
