Early Career and Breakthrough at Mallorca
Born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, Güiza's footballing journey began with his hometown club, Xerez. His impressive skills caught the attention of Mallorca, but he saw limited playing time during his initial three seasons. After proving his worth during several stints in the second division, he returned to Mallorca in June 2007.
Becoming a Goal-Scoring Machine
In his second spell with Mallorca, Güiza exploded onto the scene, scoring an astonishing 27 goals without converting a single penalty. This remarkable feat earned him the Pichichi Trophy, becoming the top scorer in La Liga.
Unexpected Move to Fenerbahçe and Return to Spain
Despite receiving offers from top clubs, including Real Madrid, Güiza made a surprising move to Turkish side Fenerbahçe in July 2008 for a fee of €14 million. He enjoyed a successful three-year stint in Turkey, contributing to Fenerbahçe's Super Cup and league title victories. In August 2011, Güiza returned to Spain with Getafe, later having loan spells at Johor Darul Ta'zim and Cerro Porteño.
