Early Life and Education
Castellaneta grew up in Chicago and completed his education at the University of Northern Illinois. During his time in school, he was a member of the school's baseball team. However, his baseball coach, Dick Trout, once said, "Dan was a funny guy, but he threw the ball like a girl."
Early Career
After graduating from university, Castellaneta started working in one of the theater groups in Chicago. He later described it as a place that would quickly make you realize how much fun it was to leave if you didn't enjoy being there. It was during this time that he met his wife, writer Deb Lacusta, who would later co-write several episodes of "The Simpsons" with him.

Castellaneta currently resides in Los Angeles.
