Early Life and Background

Daria Varfolomeev was born on November 4, 2006, in Barnaul, Russia, to Dmitry and Tatiana Varfolomeev. Her maternal grandfather was German, and she has an older brother named Alexander. Varfolomeev's mother, Tatiana, was a former rhythmic gymnast who achieved the title of Candidate Master of Sports. Currently, the family resides in Germany.

Genesis of Gymnastics

Varfolomeev's journey in rhythmic gymnastics began at the age of three. In 2018, she relocated from Russia to Germany to train under the guidance of Yulia Raskina.

Junior Achievements

At the 2019 Junior World Championships in Moscow, Varfolomeev failed to qualify for the clubs final, finishing in 15th place.

Senior Dominance

In 2022, Varfolomeev made her senior debut at the World Cup in Tashkent, winning a bronze medal in the all-around. She went on to claim a bronze medal in the hoop final, two silver medals in the ball and ribbon finals, and a 4th place in the clubs final.

Varfolomeev's stellar performances continued at the World Challenge Cup in Pamplona, where she secured a 4th place in the all-around. She topped it with two gold medals in the ball and ribbon finals and a 4th place in the clubs final. At the World Challenge Cup in Portimão, she earned a silver medal in the all-around and three additional medals: two golds in the ball and clubs finals and a silver in the hoop final.

At the European Championships in Tel Aviv, Varfolomeev won two bronze medals in the ball and clubs finals. In the final competitive events of 2022, she represented Germany at the World Championships in Sofia, where she captured three gold medals (clubs final, team all-around, and ball final), two silver medals (all-around, team event), and a bronze medal in the hoop final.

In 2023, Varfolomeev dominated the World Championships in Baku, triumphing with four gold medals in all individual apparatus finals (hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon). She also claimed the gold in the individual all-around and a silver medal in the team competition.
