Early Life and Education

Dutch violinist and music pedagogue. She studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Oscar Back and later in Paris with Lina Talluel and George Enescu.

Teaching Career

She is renowned primarily for her teaching career. She taught at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and, from 1969, at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Among her notable students are Coosje Wijzenbeek, Jaap van Zweden, Isabelle van Keulen, and Marleen Simons.

Competition and Award

In 1991, she established the national competition for young violinists (aged 14-18) that bears her name and continues to be held. In 1984, she was awarded the Hogerbeets Prize for her contributions to classical music.
