Early Life and Club Career

Miralem Pjanić, a former Bosnian and Yugoslavian footballer of Croatian descent, began his footballing journey in his hometown of Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He trained with the local club Igman Konjic before moving to FK Sarajevo in 1979.

During his eight years with Sarajevo, Pjanić made a significant impact and played a key role in the club's triumph as Yugoslavian champions in the 1984/85 season. After leaving Sarajevo, he ventured abroad, initially joining Cesena in Italy's Serie A in 1987.

Pjanić's international experience continued with stints at Club América in Mexico and Spezia in Italy. His impressive performances on the field earned him a call-up to the Yugoslavian national team.

International Career

Miralem Pjanić made his debut for the Yugoslavian national team in 1984. He played a vital role in the team's impressive run at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, participating in all five matches and scoring two goals.

Coaching and Legacy

After retiring from playing, Pjanić transitioned into coaching. In 2007, he held the position of assistant coach at Cesena, where he had previously played. His experience as both a player and a coach has left a lasting legacy in the world of football.
