Dias' tenure at Palmeiras marked a golden period for the team. Alongside iconic players such as Ademir da Guia, Dudu, and Waldir, he became an integral part of a formidable squad that conquered two Campeonato Paulista (São Paulo State Championship) titles, the Rio-São Paulo Tournament, and the João Havelange Cup. His 239 games with Palmeiras (150 wins, 44 draws, 55 losses) cemented his status as a club legend.

Dias' domestic success extended to his national team career. He earned 21 caps for Brazil, making his debut in 1962 against Wales. His most memorable international appearance came on November 21, 1965, when Brazil, represented by two separate teams, played both the Soviet Union and Hungary on the same day.
