Early Life and Career
Ireneusz Jeleń was born in Cieszyn, Poland, as the middle child of three siblings. His passion for football began at an early age. In 2000, he joined his hometown club Piast Cieszyn, marking the start of his professional football career.
Domestic Success with Plock
In 2001, Jeleń moved to Beskid Skoczów. After impressing for a season and a half in the third division, he earned a promotion to top-flight club Wisła Płock in 2004. Over the next four seasons, he established himself as a formidable striker, amassing 45 goals in 100 matches for the club. Jeleń's impressive performances led to him winning both the Polish Cup and Super Cup during his time at Wisła Płock.
Move to Europe
On June 28, 2006, Jeleń signed a contract with French club Auxerre. He made his debut for the team on August 5 against Valenciennes. His first goal for Auxerre came on September 9 in a match against Monaco, which Auxerre ultimately won.
International Career
Jeleń made his international debut for Poland on December 11, 2003, in a friendly against Malta. He scored his first goal for the national team just three days later in a match against Lithuania. Jeleń was a member of Poland's squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Personal Life
Off the field, Jeleń is a devoted family man. He is married and has two children: a son, Jakub (born 2003), and a daughter, Julia (born 2010).
