Biography of Dominik Furch
Dominik Furch is a Czech ice hockey player and goaltender. He was born on March 19, 1990, in Prague, Czech Republic. Furch began playing hockey at the age of seven in Prague and quickly showed great potential.
Early Career
Furch was trained in the youth systems of Prague clubs "Kobra" and "Slavia". He made his debut in the Czech Extraliga during the victorious 2007/08 season with "Slavia", playing seven regular-season matches but did not participate in the playoffs. He went on to become a silver and bronze medalist in the Czech championship with "Slavia".
Move to Avangard
On May 13, 2015, Furch signed a 2-year contract with the KHL club "Avangard" in Omsk, Russia. He made his debut for the team in the 2015/2016 season and quickly established himself as a reliable goaltender. On September 12, he achieved his first shutout against "Lokomotiv" with a 3-0 victory.
International Career
Furch also represented the Czech Republic in international competitions. He played for the junior and youth national teams, gaining valuable experience and showcasing his skills. In the 2015/2016 season, he was selected to play for the senior national team in the Euro Hockey Tour.
NHL Draft and Contract Extension
In 2006, Furch was drafted by the NHL team, the Philadelphia Flyers. Although he did not play in the NHL, he continued to excel in the KHL with "Avangard". On May 1, 2017, Furch extended his contract with "Avangard" until 2019, reaffirming his commitment to the team.
