Bulgarian Geneticist and Academic
Early Life and EducationThe Bulgarian geneticist was born and raised in Bulgaria. In 1924, he graduated from the University of Halle in Germany.
Research and Academic Career
From 1932 to 1939, the geneticist worked at the Institute of Genetics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. During that period, he also served as a professor at Leningrad University from 1934 to 1936.
Return to Bulgaria
In 1939, the geneticist returned to Bulgaria and became the Director of the Central Agricultural Research Institute in Sofia. In 1946, he was appointed as a professor at Sofia University.
Academic Leadership and Honors
In 1946, the geneticist was elected as an academician of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He was also elected as an academician of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1948.
Political Involvement and Later Career
The geneticist became a member of the Bulgarian Communist Party in 1944. From 1947 onwards, he served as the Director of the Institute of Applied Biology and Development of Organisms at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
