Nakamarra's transition to painting with acrylics occurred in the 1990s, where she ingeniously transferred traditional body painting designs onto canvas. Initially producing a limited number of paintings, her confidence and skill grew rapidly, and she created an impressive sixty works between 2001 and 2003.
