Early Life and Education
Nino Lomjaria was born in Georgia and attended the Ilia Chavchavadze Institute of European Languages and Culture, graduating in 1962.
Career in Education and Politics
After her graduation, Lomjaria worked as a teacher in a secondary school in Rustavi. In 1995, she entered politics, joining the United National Movement party. For the next nine years (1995-2004), she served as a member of the Georgian Parliament, where she chaired the Human Rights Committee.
Post-Parliamentary Career
Following her time in Parliament, Lomjaria was appointed as Deputy Minister of Georgia for Reintegration. She currently holds the position of Chairperson of the State Commission on Pardoning under the President of Georgia.
Recognition and Honors
In recognition of her contributions to parliamentarism and human rights advocacy, Nino Lomjaria was awarded the Order of Honor in 2008.
