Biography of Emily Cross

Emily Cross is an American fencer and participant in the 2008 Olympics. She was born on October 15, 1986, in Seattle, Washington, and currently resides in New York. Emily has a brother named Sam Cross, who is also a fencer and quite talented.

Early Years and Fencing Career

Emily started fencing at a young age and fondly recalls accompanying her father to the prestigious Metropolis Fencing Club in Manhattan every Saturday. She continued her fencing journey throughout her education, graduating from Brearley High School in 2004 and currently studying biology at Harvard University.

During her academic years, Emily participated in various competitions, including winning the Cadet World Champion title in 2003, earning a silver medal at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in the same year, becoming the NCAA Individual Champion in 2005, and claiming the Junior World Champion title in 2005 and 2006. She was also part of the NCAA Team Champion in 2006.

Currently, Emily has been selected by the U.S. Olympic Committee to represent the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing as a member of the U.S. Olympic Team.

Achievements and Other Interests

While attending Harvard University, Emily achieved numerous accolades, including being on the Dean's list in 2004-2005 and receiving the Academic All-Ivy award in both 2004-2005 and 2005-2006.

Apart from her fencing career, Emily is also a skilled saxophonist and enjoys playing her favorite musical instrument, reading books, and watching movies in her free time. Currently, her focus is primarily on preparing for the Olympics, as she dreams of victory and is determined to make it a reality.
