Early Life and Military Career

In 1840, Enrico Cosenz joined the Neapolitan army. Eight years later, he took part in the defense of Venice against the Austrians, demonstrating his military prowess.

Academic and Military Achievements

From 1849 to 1859, Cosenz served as a professor of artillery at the Venice Polytechnic School. In 1859, he joined Garibaldi's corps and commanded the 1st Alpine Rifle Regiment.

Service in the Italian Army

After Italy's unification in 1861, Cosenz joined the Italian army and held various positions, including general inspector of the National Guard of the Neapolitan province and prefect of Bari.

Distinguished Leadership

Cosenz ascended through the ranks, becoming adjutant to the King in 1862 and judge of the Supreme Military Tribunal in 1866. He served as Chief of General Staff from 1882 to 1893, a testament to his strategic abilities.

Political Career

Cosenz's distinguished military career was complemented by his political involvement. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies, initially as a member of the right wing, and later became a senator in 1872.

Honors and Recognition
