Erin Kellyman Biography

Early Life and Education

Erin Kellyman was born on October 17, 1998, in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. Her striking appearance stems from her mixed heritage; her father, Charles Kellyman, is Jamaican, while her mother, Louise Kellyman, is Irish. Among her three siblings, Erin is the middle child, with Amelia (known as Millie) being the eldest and Freya the youngest.

Despite their parents having no artistic background, all of the Kellyman children embraced different forms of creativity. However, only Erin pursued acting professionally. Her eldest sister became a skeleton racer for Team GB, while the youngest embarked on a career in dance. Erin's passion for acting emerged at a young age, sparked by a visit to the set of the medical drama "Doctors" where her sister had a cameo role. She went on to hone her skills at the Birmingham School of Performing Arts and later at the Nottingham Television Workshop, an institution that also produced actors such as Joseph Dempsie and Jack O'Connell.

Film and Television Career

Erin Kellyman's acting career took off in 2015. Unlike many of her peers, she made her debut in a high-profile project: the sitcom "Raised by Wolves" (unrelated to Ridley Scott's later sci-fi series of the same name). She followed this up with appearances in "Uncle" and other television shows. Kellyman's breakthrough role came in the space western "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (2018), where she played the formidable antagonist Enfys Nest, leader of the Cloud-Riders gang. Her performance garnered critical acclaim, bolstering her reputation alongside co-stars Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, and Alden Ehrenreich.

The success of "Solo" led to numerous offers for Kellyman. In 2019, she starred in the miniseries "Les Misérables," based on Victor Hugo's novel. Her portrayal of Éponine, the complex eldest daughter of the Thénardiers, earned widespread recognition. The series also featured notable actors like Dominic West, David Oyelowo, and Lily Collins.

Kellyman's international career continued to flourish with prominent roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fantasy film "The Green Knight" (both released in 2021). In "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," she played Karli Morgenthau, the leader of the anti-patriotic group the Flag-Smashers. Notably, Morgenthau was portrayed as female in the series, a departure from the character's male identity in the comics. Kellyman found this significant, stating that it provided female viewers with a relatable heroine. Alongside Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, and Wyatt Russell, she delivered a captivating performance.

In "The Green Knight," Kellyman took on a wholly different role as the innocent and tragic maiden Winifred. She shared the screen with Oscar nominee Dev Patel and Australian actor Joel Edgerton.

Personal Life

Erin Kellyman is openly lesbian. She has expressed gratitude for the support she receives from her family, particularly her mother. Kellyman is private about her personal life, preferring to focus on her work in interviews and social media. Despite this, it is known that she has been in a relationship with Jordan O'Coy since 2019.

She is an avid dog lover and owns a pet dog she playfully calls Chewbacca. Kellyman's height is 168 cm (5'6").

Present and Future

Erin Kellyman continues to build her career in Hollywood while remaining open to compelling projects in her home country. Upcoming roles include the fantasy adventure series "Willow," a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name. Kellyman portrays Jade, a strong-willed knight whose unwavering loyalty to her beloved Princess Kit (Ruby Cruz) drives her journey. The series, which also features Warwick Davis, Ellie Bamber, and Tony Revolori, premiered on Disney+ in November 2022.
