Ernesto Piedras is a Mexican professor and economist who has made significant contributions in the telecommunications industry. Piedras is currently a professor of economics at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM). He is also the CEO of 'The Competitive Inteligente Unit, S.C.', a consulting company specializing in telecommunications and the culture industry. Moreover, Piedras has served in several governmental roles, including the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and the Ministry of Planning and Budget. He has also been involved with the Federal Commission of Electricity.

In 2008, Piedras was recognized as a market leader in the telecommunications sector and in the field of legal regulation. He is a frequent contributor to specialized publications such as 'Este País', 'Revista Red', and 'Boletin Canieti'. Piedras also writes a weekly column called 'Estrategias Telecom' in the national newspaper 'El Economista'.
