Born in the small Belarusian town of Baranovichi during the major Jewish ghetto of World War II, he is now widely recognized for his performances on the opera stage, as well as his ownership of a restaurant and recording studio in Israel.

Early Life and Career

Shapovalov's journey to the opera stage began with performances in restaurants in his hometown, where he started singing popular songs at the age of 13. After the restaurant era, he moved to the city of Odessa, where he studied and performed at the local conservatory. To sustain himself, Shapovalov also performed in Odessa's restaurants, where he garnered significant success among the local audience.

It was during this period in Odessa that Shapovalov developed a deep love for fine food, which later inspired him to venture into the restaurant business. After living in Odessa for a considerable amount of time, he eventually moved to Israel, where he resided in a small room and sang in Russian restaurants for ten years.
